Waiting

baby, i've been waiting
i've been waiting night and day
i didn't see the time
i waited half my life away
there were lots of invitations
and i know you sent me some
but i was waiting
for the miracle, for the miracle to come

i know you really loved me
but, you see, my hands were tied
i know it must have hurt you
it must have hurt your pride
to have to stand beneath my window
with your bugle and your drum
and me i'm up there waiting
for the miracle, for the miracle to come

ah, i don't believe you'd like it
you wouldn't like it here
there ain't no entertainment
and the judgements are severe
the maestro says it's mozart
but it sounds like bubble gum
when you're waiting
for the miracle, for the miracle to come

For The

waiting for the miracle
there's nothing left to do
i haven't been this happy
since the end of world war II

nothing left to do
when you know that you've been taken
nothing left to do
when you're begging for a crumb
nothing left to do
when you've got to go on waiting
waiting for the miracle to come

i dreamed about you, baby
it was just the other night
most of you was naked
ah, but some of you was light
the sands of time were falling
from your fingers and your thumb
and you were waiting
for the miracle, for the miracle to come

Miracle

ah baby, let's get married
we've been alone too long
let's be alone together
let's see if we're that strong
yeah let's do something crazy
something absolutely wrong
while we're waiting
for the miracle, for the miracle to come

nothing left to do ...

when you've fallen on the highway
and you're lying in the rain
and they ask you how you're doing
of course you'll say you can't complain
if you're squeezed for information
that's when you've got to play it dumb
you just say you're out there waiting
for the miracle, for the miracle to come

I Tried

i tried to leave you
i don't deny
i closed the book on us
at least a hundred times
i'd wake up every morning
by your side

the years go by
you lose your pride
the baby's crying
so you do not go outside
and all your work it's right
before your eyes

To Leave You

goodnight, my darling
i hope you're satisfied
the bed is kind of narrow
but my arms are open wide
and here's a man still working
for your smile

FIM / END

.
like a bird on the wire
like a drunk in a midnight choir
i have tried in my way to be free

like a worm on a hook
like a knight from
some old fashioned book
i have saved all my ribbons
for thee

if i, if i have been unkind
i hope that you can just let it go by
if i, if i have been untrue
i hope you know
it was never to you

like a baby, stillborn
like a beast with his horn
i have torn everyone
who reached out for me
but i swear by this song
and by all that i have done wrong
i will make it all up to thee

i saw a beggar leaning
on his wooden crutch
he said to me
"you must not ask for so much"
and a pretty woman
leaning in her darkened door
she cried to me
"hey, why not ask for more?"

oh, like a bird on the wire
like a drunk in a midnight choir
i have tried in my way
to be free

The Music Of My Life

THE MUSIC OF MY LIFE

THE POEM OF MY LIFE

With

A Great Movie

ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA

A Great Photographer

GRAÇA LOUREIRO

The Poem

suzanne takes you down
to her place near the river
you can hear the boats go by
you can spend the night beside her
and you know that she's half crazy
but that's why you want to be there
and she feeds you tea and oranges
that come all the way from china
.
and just when you mean to tell her
that you have no love to give her
then she gets you on her wavelength
and she lets the river answer
that you've always been her lover
.
and you want to travel with her
and you want to travel blind
and you know that she will trust you
for you've touched her perfect body
with your mind
.

Of My

and jesus was a sailor
when he walked upon the water
and he spent a long time watching
from his lonely wooden tower
and when he knew for certain
only drowning men could see him
.
he said "all men will be sailors then
until the sea shall free them"
but he himself was broken
long before the sky would open
forsaken, almost human
he sank beneath your wisdom
like a stone
.
and you want to travel with him
and you want to travel blind
and you think maybe you'll trust him
for he's touched your perfect body
with his mind
.
